Graphic Design Assistant

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Graphic Design Assistant allows a student to gain valuable real-world experience and explore the field before committing to an area of study. Our interns will be working on projects from concept through completion. Working under the VP, Chief Creative Officer, the Graphic Design Assistant will be provided opportunities for creative growth in both print and digital media. The ideal candidate will work hard, bring great ideas and engage with the team meaningfully, supporting our work.

To ensure success, the Graphic Design Assistant should be detail-oriented and have a solid understanding of marketing tactics and a keen interest in providing a consistent brand voice across all marketing activities to specific audiences. The Graphic Design Assistant will exhibit critical thinking skills, strong problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.

Graphic Design Assistants are responsible for assisting in the design of digital marketing materials, including print and digital advertising. This person will be working on various projects with an emphasis on visual design as well as web development. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop graphic design projects for print, digital, or other media.
  • Work with the VP, Chief Creative Officer, on creative ideas in order to create compelling visual content using Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Photoshop/InDesign/Illustrator).
  • Create layouts from scratch as needed, using Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Assist in content generation for print, broadcast, and online content.
  • Serve as a content quality editor.
  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and strengthening the organization and client brand.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client information. 
  • Ability to understand, design within, and apply brand guidelines

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

  • Demonstrated use of the following applications: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign.
  • Working knowledge of web design and development disciplines is encouraged
  • Project management skills, follow-through on assignments, taking direction, attending to and communicating about the details of any assignment, and juggling multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker who can use data and intuition to make informed decisions and research proficiencies.

Proficiency in: 

  •  Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets
  •  Verbal and Written Communications 
  •  Organizational Skills 
  •  Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  •  Great attention to detail and project management skills. 
  •  Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

 Ability to: 

  • Prioritize and manage many tasks simultaneously and independently. 
  • Face and overcome new challenges seen in the course of work. 
  • Work and interact with staff members at various levels in the organization.

Additional skills are a plus:

  • Working knowledge of multimedia technologies such as Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects
  • Video editing skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent portfolio experience.
